DESIGNER PROFILE

A self-taught jewelry artist, I use my prior life experience as a Clinical
Scientist as a license to experiment! I translate my experiences and voice them
in my jewelry. I consider jewelry to be my “universal language” and let it speak
to others for me.
My designs are created using traditional metalsmithing, wire wrapping and
chainmaille and crochet wire techniques; everything is made with my own two
hands and nothing is cast. I have an intimate relationship with the metal and
enjoy the challenge of literally bending, forming and soldering it to my will! I
love adding color and texture in the form of accents: semi-precious gemstones,
freshwater pearls, crystals, glass and even found objects. I love working with
the medium glass because I can create original designs by firing up the torch to
make lamp work beads or the kiln to make fused glass cabochons.
Jewelry is my way of connecting to the world. Each jewelry design tells a story
and allows me to be intimate with not only the person it adorns but the people
that person interacts with as well. It is my hope that each design be a portable
piece of art that carries my “fingerprint” that allows the person who wears it
to express their own individual “personality and voice” to the world.
